OUR RETREAT DIRECTOR

Father Boniface Hicks, O.S.B., has been a monk of Saint Vincent Archabbey in Pennsylvania since 1998. He has been involved with WAOB (We Are One Body) radio station, Latrobe, since its formation in 2010, presently serving as program director. He is the co-author, along with Father Thomas Acklin, O.S.B., the book Spiritual Direction: A Guide for Sharing the Father’s Love, and Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father’s Love. His book, Through the Heart of St. Joseph, was published in spring of 2021.

He has a bachelor of science degree in computer science and a master of science degree in computer science from Penn State University, a master of arts degree in 2003, and a master of divinity degree in 2004 from Saint Vincent Seminary, summa cum laude. He completed his Ph.D. in computer science in 2007 at Penn State.

Upon his return to Saint Vincent, he served as a faculty member at Saint Vincent College (2007-2011); associate director of spiritual formation (2015) then director of spiritual life (2016-present), adjunct faculty member (2017-present) and director for alumni affairs (2017-present) at Saint Vincent Seminary. He is director of the Seminary’s Institute for Ministry Formation (2018-present).

He is a sought-after retreat master and spiritual director, traveling throughout the United States, and as far as Beijing, China, in his work.
